Chiclete
Com Banana, the first recorded work by
the trio, is a representation of the repertoire
they performed
weekly to enthusiastic audiences at Georgia Browns
Jazz Brunch for ten years.
This combination of Brazilian music, American
Jazz and Pop features such composers as A.C.
Jobim, Duke Ellington, Rodgers and Hart, Djavan,
Suzanne Vega, Joao Bosco, Baden Powell, Hoagy
Carmichael and more.
Gonzalez,
Tobey and Wilentz each have been applauded by The
Washington Post: The Nicki Gonzalez Band's "Spilt
Milk" (featuring Tobey on drums, winner of the
2001 WAMMY for Contemporary Jazz Band), Wilentz's
efforts with Pam Bricker on "U-topia" (winner
of the 2001 WAMMY for Best Contemporary Jazz Recording)
and his own highly successful recording "The
Wayne Wilentz Trio....e nossos amigos". Chiclete
com Banana is available on-line or at any Trio Balança
performance."
